I think we can all agree that SA is going completely insane. Do you think we should pack up and leave, and where in the world can we go that is better than here? Our government are acting like insane people, banning the media from reporting what they are doing. They are having meetings in secrecy still talking racist talks. The voters keep voting for them no matter that they don’t deliver on their promises. They just follow them like sheep even though they are still dying in poverty. Strikes become riots with innocent people dying because workers are behaving like complete and utter hooligans.

I want to know what you think we are facing in the next two years. What lies in wait for all of us, black and white? Where is all this madness going to end? How is it going to end or is it going to get even worse. What is the worst case scenario for all of us? I am waiting to hear your views on this.

The road is dark and treacherous and danger lurks everywhere. You are tired and terrified, stumbling along with no hope. Whatever you do, don’t ask people what they will complain about if they had a place to go to do just that. It seems so many people nowadays don’t know the meaning of loyalty anymore. Everyone is lying to each other about everything and act duplicitous. It is hard to trust others because you don’t know if they are true. In families, friendships and the workplace there is constant deceit and it is hard to know if anyone is trustworthy.

If I have been betrayed once it is hard for me to trust that person again. When someone is being false with you more than once it is better to cut them out of your life. We try hard to forgive and forget but it is difficult when you are the only one who keeps trying. Rather be alone than have a snake in your midst is how I feel. I had a friend since primary school until I realised a few years ago that she was talking behind my back and telling lies to our mutual friends. It was such a shock because I never thought her to be that kind of person.

It shows you how long someone can pretend to be honest without you even realising the opposite. I read so many times on the blogs how people are hurt by this kind of thing repeatedly. Why is it so hard for some people to be trustworthy? There aren’t many we can rely on whom will defend our honour in our absence. How truly sad society has become.

So many people are being cheated out of getting the remuneration they deserve for the effort they put into their work. How can you work for a boss who constantly undervalues your labour? I read the other day about one of our own bloggers, Lee, who is in this situation. How many of you out there aren’t being taken advantage of in the workplace? And these companies do it ruthlessly because they know you need that salary at the end of the month. They expect you to be loyal but they don’t show you the same courtesy.

In marriages I think the worst kind of thing is to cheat on each other. Your spouse is suppose to be the one you can trust with all your heart, but you read more and more about people running around and having secret affairs while acting as if they are faithful. Rather be alone so that you can sleep around as much as you want than be a liar and cheat.

If only there were more trust and loyalty being shown to each other in the world it would be a better place to live. But sadly it seems perfidy is at the order of the day all around us.

When I appealed to you for questions to ask the public in a survey Colonialist suggested I ask if people still think suicide is a sin. Someone else added to his comment and thought I could ask if someone fails in an attempted suicide if they should be given the death penalty. I can understand that comment, because wasn’t that what the person was trying to do in the first place, trying to get themselves out of this world? The truth is that someone who commits suicide is trying to kill the pain not themselves.

This got me thinking and I decided to make it more than just a question about it being a sin. I will ask more than one question and an idea formed in my head that I could use this opportunity to create awareness about it. Clearly many people still think it is a cowardly act and something to be ashamed of. Since last year October I have tried to educate people about depression and suicide with my blog but it is not enough.

While talking to them I could hand out little pamphlets to educate them about it. I am sure many of them won’t even read it and throw it away but I am sure some of it will be read. I have always wanted to do something to make people aware of suicide and the consequences and with this I will fulfil that aim at the same time as getting fodder for a blog.

Some of the questions I thought would be a good idea; do they think someone who dies by suicide will go to hell? Is it only cowards who commit this act? Have their lives been affected by it? Or I could just ask their opinions on suicide. What else do you think I should ask about it? I would really appreciate your input on this. Thanks for giving me this idea Col, I would never have thought about it on my own.

The people I will talk to are complete strangers and won’t know I lost a child to suicide. There is a feeling of trepidation because I am sure some of the things I am going to hear will upset me. However I can distance myself from it and do it in a professional manner, just like any other journalist who is doing a survey. For the next few days I am going to ready myself for things I might not want to hear and when I go out there it will just be a project.

I will eat any vegetable but I cannot stand dry rice, soft beans and mushy anything!

I use all my kitchen gadgets as often as possible but my Parmesan grater is still in the box after 1 year as I have been too lazy to get it down (sorry SIS) and, I have a Jamie Oliver shakey thing that I do not use often - but this was a gift not a HAD TO HAVE item.

3. Favorite Wine (cellar/ type/ color will do)

Merlot of course! But, my favourite cellar is Meerlust and from them the Rubicon is my all time top wine. Basically, if it is red I will drink it - but it must be dry.

4. What is one of your worst childhood food memories?

raw chicken being served to us at a youth camp - even then, I knew it was not safe to eat

5. If a craving/muchies strike, what would it most likely be for and what would you do to get it:

I only ever crave chocolate, and I would probably do anything to get some!

6. Strangest thing you’ve ever eaten (foreign and/or frightful):

I have eaten a lot of strange things, bigournout (sea snails) being one of them, and ray knobs being another.

7. Do you ever buy ingredients, having absolutely not clue what to do with it?

no, I only buy something when I know how I am going to use it - otherwise it might end up being trashed, and I hate waste

8. Do you have any Obsessive and/or Compulsive behaviours in the Kitchen, name a few!!

I count how many times I twist the grinder of the salt and pepper. I smell milk before pouring it. Sometimes I count the number of slices as I cut something.

9. Name one thing you would like to have in the kitchen

A proper mixer - I am holding out for the Kenwood Chef that has a built in scale. I also want a disposal unit in my sink.

10. If life was like box of chocolates, which chocolate would you choose?

the whole box! Turkish Delight would be my top choice
